About Me:
My career in technology has been varied. At turns, it has been, interesting, exciting and challenging. I have served as:
• Electronics technician
• Submarine vehicle technician, pilot and designer
• Mechanical designer
• Electrical designer
The latest challenge is our Yellow VAN Handyman business. I’ve found that working with my hands and helping people is more satisfying than much of my previous work in technology and industry.

I was mentored in the use of tools and self-reliance from age 6 by my grandfather, a consummate handyman. I happily spent my summers following in his footsteps helping with the chores of a fishing guide, caretaker, carpenter, mechanic and gardener in northern Minnesota.
And so began my lifelong passion to do-it myself.
We renovated and repaired our first home doing plaster, painting, carpentry, plumbing, lighting, electrical, awnings, windows, laminate counters & cabinets.
Using CADD, I designed our dream home that we built in the Squamish area. Many of the smaller elements of construction and finishing were handled by myself and my wife. Projects to finish the house included deck rails, deck stairs, deck gate, main stair rail, tiling a floor, baseboards, door trims, door installs, painting , weather sealing, insulating, pony wall, glass block wall, lighting installs, shelving, storage systems, laundry chute and more. In the years we have lived here, there has been a wide variety of maintenance and repairs to keep up with.
My wife and I make a great team and often work together. We team up on ordinary chores but she is also a skilled artisan and some of her work can be seen at www.finedesigns.ca .
My hobby is sailing and I like re-storing and improving our yacht.
